I am about to turn 33 and have been in the escort/massage/stripper business off and on since I was 20. I have ran my own service, answered phones for other services, and even hired and trained new girls that more than anything wanted to be in the business.

No one understands and appreciates your rant more than I do. So many girls today just want quick easy money because they think they are cute. They don't realize that this is an actual profession. There is nothing easy about it! This is a life that many people fantasize over, yet very few can actually live it, and even fewer succeed at.

I personally have a very low tolerance for stupidity. It isn't that hard to follow a few simple guidelines to be successful, yet over and over again, the younger girls believe they know what they're doing already! They aren't virgins after all! Well here are a few pointers!

If you are supposed to be somewhere at a certain time, be there. McDonald's wouldn't even let you show up when ever you wanted! Reliability, and dependability will guarantee repeat business.

Invest in yourself. Do they think because they chose not to go to college that makes them more desirable? If that's the case, stick with being a stripper. No one is there to carry on a conversation with you! In this business, your looks only get you through someones door. You class and sophistication keep you there!

Take care of your self. Allergies are one thing, but trying to work while you have the flu will cost you clients in the future. Do you really think they never speak to other clients? Or even more so, the company? Pay attention to your appearance. If you haven't touched up your roots in six months it looks like you don't care about yourself. If you don't, why should your clients!?

Recognize and know your limits. I would love to work for Dreams. But I recognize the fact that I have tattoos and that's not what they are looking for. I am not going to force them to hire me...that would be retarded to try! If you are getting older, and it shows, don't try pulling the school girl act unless its requested! It can be a real turn off, and that isn't what we want, right?

Pay attention to what is going on in the world! Not just your world! Nine times out of ten, your client doesn't care when Jay-Z's new CD comes out, or who Rhianna might be sleeping with this week. Actually have an educated opinion on politics, as well as philosophy. Keep up with general knowledge of a variety of male focused interests. Sports and cars are always good topics!

And most importantly, leave your personal life at home! Even if they act like they want to know about it, make something up that you stick with all the time....otherwise you are inviting stalkers! Flattering? Maybe. Safe? NO WAY!

Sorry if I went a little off topic, but I figured if the application page sent ladies to read the blogs, it couldn't hurt!

Hey Lee --

I appreciate the rant. I have the same damn complaint. I get appointed
by the courts to represent a lot of young mothers who get involved
with the child welfare system. None of them bother even to take a
shower to go to court, let alone dress decently (which might make an
impression on the judge), they show up in jeans and flip flops or
blown-out sneakers, and with multiple piercings still on their faces.
Some of these gals are the products of supposedly decent families.

I can tell you I have two stepdaughters, one is married and in nursing
school, the other is 22, refused to finish high school, was pregnant
at 17 the first time, and has gone through several boyfriends and
another kid since -- and can't figure out why the state took her kids.
*I* didn't raise her, her mother did -- like trash. At 22 she has
acne she doesn't treat, thinks she looks "hot" when she bends over and
her hip-height jeans do the plumber bit on her ass, walks around with
her cell phone genetically spliced to her hand, says "fuck" every
other word, and wonders why I don't take her anywhere with me that she
thinks would be cool.

The point, as you and I both well know,is that civilization makes a difference.
And I have no fracking clue why the people who are reproducing can't understand
that as well as I can.

If I wanted to pay a low-class skank for companionship of any kind I'd
go trolling the street. But I see enough of that as clients, and
skanks have never gotten my motor running. When I was six years old I
had a crush on one fashion model who was showing -- I think it was
Yves St Laurent's -- Moroccan-style fashions, and one on Barbara Eden.
I can't think of any woman who's really done a thing for me who
didn't have some kind of basic class. Even what these 20-nothings
want to wear that they think is sexy puts me off (Belly shirts? Too much cheap bling? Dragon Lady nails with rhinestones glued on? Bra straps showing? Looking like Britney Spears after a bender?)-- give me a basic
black dress, not too short, and black stockings, and a good hairdo,
and a great attitude, and I'm there. And I know I'm far from alone in
that feeling.

But I see, every day, the same sort of girls who are either working
streets or thinking about applying to you, and yes, it IS a pandemic
of awfulness. I don't think I'm asking for much, but among the
younger set it really is asking for the moon most of the time to expect basic couth.

I remember the scenes in "Gigi" -- one of my favorite movies -- where
the courtesan aunt tries teaching Gigi about jewelry, selecting and
trimming men's cigars, pouring tea, and other niceties of life that
she expects Gigi to need to know if she follows her aunt's career. Girls
don't get taught these sorts of things any more -- "straight" ones or
those looking for more adventurous lines of work. You almost need a
mama-san, a training geisha as it were, to put wanna-bes through their
paces and see if they can do it.

Sorry to go on at length, but your rant is a pet one of mine too.
